Pykas Mines

For more than two decades, Alexander Pyka has dedicated himself to exploring abandoned and forgotten mines. His expeditions lead him to places that have often not been visited by humans for many decades, and exploring these sites involves significant effort and risks.

From 2014 to 2016, I had the opportunity to accompany Alexander Pyka as a photographer on some of his explorations. During this time, I documented him and the places that fascinate him through my lens. The resulting photographs not only showcase the characteristic features of these abandoned mines but also highlight Alexander's methodical approach and passion for exploration.
